Event : Guru Nanak Jayanti
Date : 12-11-19
Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated on the full moon day of kartik month, also known as Guru Purnima. This year it was celebrated on November 12, 2019 by Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s followers to mark his birth anniversary. He was the Founder of Sikhism (one of the major religions of our country) and a preacher of peace and servicing. His teachings are preserved in the holy texts of “Guru Granth Sahib”.
To mark the celebration, Sikhs starts doing pheris 15 days before the day of celebration. Two days before the birthday, “Akhand Path” (a forty-eight hour non-stop reading of the holy book) is held in every Gurdwara. And a day prior to the birthday, a procession referred to as Nagarkirtan, is organized.
The children of class Einstein at Saaransh Foundation also celebrated the birth of the greatest guru of all, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. They had a discussion regarding his preaching on peace and also paid obeisance by lighting incense sticks and lamps in front of his photograph.
